Multi-Level Marketing is almost 60 years old!
MLM started in the 1940's and was called M & G Marketing after the founders of the first Multi-Level Compensation Plan. Companies such as Shaklee, Neo-Life, Amway, Mary Kay, and NSA have all been in business for more than 25 years (with Shaklee being the grandpa at 40 years old).
Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) is also known as "Network Marketing," "Relationship Marketing," "Personal Marketing," or "Direct Marketing." No matter what name it is called, it is all the same. MLM is a form of marketing where the company uses a sales force called "Independent Representatives" or "Distributors" to get its products or services to the consumers. The MLM company uses its sales force to do their advertising (by Word-of-Mouth) and distribution so that it can cut expenses and give those savings back to the "Representative" in the form of residual income.
With all the hype and enthusiasm aside, MLM is just another form of marketing not unlike radio advertisements, television advertisements, or newspaper advertisements. The big difference is that when a Company uses MLM, to market its product or service, you have the opportunity to get paid again and again for the work you do today!
